Pain Changes Us

There's a lot of things that can change us. But there is one thing very powerful that can destroy or build us, pain.

"Pain does not  need to be seen to be felt."

People tend to believe what the eyes see. We forget that there are a lot of things the eyes can't perceive. That's why people dismiss someone's suffering, they couldn't see it physically. It's disgusting how people would brush off the situation and will insist that a person who is suffering is only delusional and thinking way too much than an average man.

"You know what truly aches? Having so much inside you and not having the slightest clue of how to pour it out."
- Karen Quan, Write Like No One Is Reading

Over the years, I felt pain. I realized that it is part of life. And there is nothing to be ashamed of it as all of us will eventually experience it. I came to a conclusion that the more I accept the fact that I am hurt the more it is bearable. And the more I hide it, the more painful it will be. I believe that if I feel miserable at times, it won't stay like that forever so it is okay to feel miserable sometimes. Life ain't perfect. And one misery won't take all the happiness surrounding me.

The hardest part in overcoming our emotional pain is to be honest with ourselves. We are too scared of admitting we are suffering.. because it is something that other people wouldn't understand and that's okay. Nobody can really understand what we feel because the only person who can feel it is us.

"I figure I'm owed at least one day to indulge my self-pity. One day to wallow in despair. To give into the soul-crunching heart-stomping pain ripping me to shreds on the inside."
- Siobhan Davis, Saven Denial

It's okay to cry. It's okay to get mad. It's okay to feel helpless. It's okay to be scared. It's okay to feel sad. And there's nothing wrong to ask help. The only thing that can be wrong is for you to think you are alone.. Because nobody is alone; you may feel alone, but you are never alone. Never ask someone to understand you, just ask someone to listen and that's all we need.

Sometimes pain is a way for us to realize that there is something wrong in the situation that we are in. And we all have a choice to do what we think is right for us to be able to let go of the pain.

"We cannot tell what may happen to us in the strange medley of life. But we can decide what happens in us - how we can take it, what we do with it - and that is what really counts in the end."
- Joseph Fort Newton
